Wedding Photography Disaster Prevention 101

What worries you the most when it comes to selecting your wedding photographer? Price? The number of prints you receive? Type of album? These are all important items to consider, however, when it comes to preventing the worst possible wedding photography disaster, none of these items measure up. So what should you be worried about? How about losing an entire section of your wedding day photos, or even worse, the photographs of your entire wedding? You have the power to minimize this possibility. By reading the rest of this article, you can help prevent a photography disaster at your wedding!
1. Make sure your photographer has backup equipment at the wedding. Having backup camera equipment is essential! Can you imagine what would happen to your blood pressure levels if you found out your photographer’s equipment had failed and therefore, could no longer take photographs? Cameras, lenses, memory cards, lighting, etc. Do not forget to ask your wedding photographer about this!
2. Have multiple wedding photographers. Even with backups, equipment failure at critical moments during a wedding with only one photographer will result in lost memories. And, yes, it does happen. That is why having at least 2 wedding photographers is so important. Even if one photographer is down for the count, you still have another one capturing the action. And, saving your memories!
3. Make sure your photographer backs up your wedding photos in multiple locations. How does your photographer store your images after the wedding? Have you ever thought about this? Probably not. If you receive a copy of all of your wedding photos, that is wonderful. Make multiple copies of them immediately. If you are waiting for your photographer to retouch or deliver your photos, do you know how they are storing your pictures? If they do not make backups of the originals right after the wedding, your precious memories are at risk.
The memories of your wedding are extremely important. Ensure that your photographer is taking the necessary steps to prevent any disasters from occurring. Please check out our article on how to find your perfect wedding photographer for more essential questions to ask your potential photographers.
