3 Simple Steps For Spectacular Candid And Photojournalistic Wedding Photos

Candid and Photojournalistic Wedding Photos in Houston, Texas

Candid and photojournalistic wedding photography has become increasingly popular amongst couples who are looking for a wedding photographer. In fact, I cannot remember any clients in recent years who have asked for something other than photojournalism wedding photography. This style of photography is simple to achieve. Remember these 3 simple steps and you will be well on your way to achieving spectacular candid and photojournalistic photos of your wedding!

1. Look away from the camera. As you can imagine, it is very difficult for a wedding photographer to get candid and photojournalistic photos if their subject is looking at the camera in every photo. Look at the camera occasionally, but change your focus and look away from the camera at various angles. Talk to your wedding party and instruct them to do the same.

2. Practice your smile. Doesn’t this seem vain? Well, yes, but you don’t have to tell anyone! So many people have beautiful smiles. Then they freeze up and look unnatural when a camera shows up. There is no better way to fix this problem than looking at yourself in the mirror and practicing your smile. Does your smile look natural? No? Then keep practicing until it does! You can also get lots of practice in by having engagement and bridal photography sessions.

3. Take your time and relax. If you focus on having fun and enjoying every moment of your wedding day, you will be relaxed. And ultimately, you will look comfortable and natural in your pictures. You prepared for and planned out your wedding for a reason. Let your planning take over. Don’t worry. If you can’t stop the worrying, at least keep your worrying limited to you and your partner. Your guests can take care of themselves. Walk slowly down the aisle during your ceremony. Look and smile at your family and friends. Give your wedding photographer plenty of time to capture the moment. Do not rush! Once again, talk to your wedding party and instruct them to walk slowly down the aisle, look around and smile at the guests, too.

Now you know how to attain fantastic photojournalistic and candid photographs at your wedding! Remember to plan your wedding thoroughly and then enjoy every moment during your wedding for the best results.
